Project Overview

The Maternal and Child Health Empowerment (MCHE) is a holistic, community-based non-profit project designed to improve maternal and child health outcomes in impoverished regions. MCHE brings essential prenatal and postnatal services directly into underserved communities. Through free checkups, basic treatments, nutritional counseling, and a culturally tailored point-based rewards program, we empower expectant and new mothers with the knowledge and support they need for safer pregnancies and healthier infants.

Ultimate Goals

1st Goal

Reduce maternal mortality by 30% in project regions (by Dec 2028).

2nd Goal

Lower under-5 mortality by 25% via comprehensive immunization and nutrition programs.

3rd Goal

Achieve 90% attendance in health-education workshops among enrolled mothers.

4th Goal

Distribute 10,000 point-based rewards (essentials kits) to reinforce healthy behaviors.

First Implementation in Bangladesh

Four rural unions of Chapai Nawabganj District, home to 35,000+ women aged 18–45. Partners: local health posts, BRAC community volunteers, and the Chapai Nawabganj District Health Office.

Timeline & Phases

Phase I (Q1 2026): Community needs assessment, stakeholder workshops, and local volunteer training.
Phase II (Q2–Q3 2026): Rollout of mobile health camps offering free prenatal/postnatal checkups.
Phase III (Q4 2026): Launch of point-reward system; home-visit program begins.
Phase IV (2026 onwards): Scale-up to adjoining districts based on impact metrics.

Key Activities

Free Checkups & Treatments: Blood‐pressure monitoring, ultrasound scans, basic anemia treatment.
Educational Workshops: Weekly sessions on nutrition, birth planning, newborn care.
Home Visits: Certified nurses visit each enrolled mother twice per trimester and at 6 weeks postpartum.
Rewards System: Mothers earn points for clinic visits and workshop attendance; redeemable for hygiene kits, baby supplies, and nutritional supplements.

Why start in Bangladesh?

Bangladesh combines urgent need with scalable opportunity. High maternal and child mortality rates—driven by limited healthcare access and poverty—make it a critical focus area. At the same time, the country’s dense population, strong community networks, and proven success with micro-health initiatives (like BRAC’s programs) create an ideal environment to pilot MCHE’s model before global expansion.
We’re also leveraging partnerships with local clinics and women’s groups in Bangladesh to ensure culturally tailored, sustainable solutions.

How is MCHE funded?

Through donations, grants, and partnerships with NGOs. 100% of public donations go directly to medical supplies, training, and incentives.

Who is eligible for MCHE?

All women aged 18–45 residing in the target unions, regardless of income or health status.

How do I register?

Complete our online form at /mche-signup, visit any local BRAC center, or contact your Union Health Post.

What workshops are offered?

Topics include prenatal nutrition, safe delivery practices, newborn care, family planning, and maternal mental health.

How does the point-system work?

You earn 1 point per health-camp visit or workshop you attend. Points can be redeemed at monthly community fairs.

When and where are sessions held?

Sessions run every Wednesday 10 AM–12 PM at your Union Health Post. Home visits are scheduled by appointment.

Can I bring a family member?

Yes—each mother may bring one support person (spouse, mother, or friend) free of charge.

How soon can I redeem points?

Points are added in our system immediately; redemption events occur on the last Saturday of each month.

Is childcare provided during workshops?

Yes, we offer supervised play-areas so you can focus on your session without worry.
